Today i read one article "The Next Orkut" in Information Technology Magazine (Oct 2007 Issue).Being an active member of orkut, i found this topic very interesting. The idea which came to my mind right after reading the heading is "Wow,i found another network, where i can scrap, where i can add my friends...:D"....This article is based on a survey conducted among some prominent people from IT Industry. Orkut is rated as the mostly used social networking site in india, among youngsters. This is the reason why,Orkut was chosen as the MTV Youth Icon of 2007. The main reason why i am grateful to Orkut is, it helped me to find many of my old friends. After leaving my school/college ,i fully lost my contact with many of my friends. After joining orkut,i searched for these friends with the help of 'Community' facility in orkut. And it helped me to regain my lost friendship. Features like Scrapping,Videos,Photos,Communities along with user friendliness made orkut very much popular among people. Nowadays Orkut added security features like locking albums and videos, preventing others(those who are not in your friendslist) from viewing your scrapbook etc.
According to Rajesh Lalwani, founder of Blogworks,Facebook will be the next Orkut.Facebook offers third parties to build applications for facebook.Millions joined Facebook in the past few months. And several new applications are being added every second. Not Only Rajesh Lalwani, some other people like Rajiv Dingra(WATconsult.com,WATBlog.com),Dhiraj Singh(freelance journalist),Surekha Shetty (director-marketing,PK4 Software Technologies Pvt Ltd) Facebook will be the next Orkut.
How many knows the founder of Orkut??I will tell u...his name is Orkut Buyukkokten. If you want to know more about him, here is the link

Hey Meenu Kutty, Happy b'day. Wanted to wish you on your b'day and stumbled on this blog of urs. Good job. Keep up the good work. One correction here. Orkut is no where near to Face book. Go to www.google.com/trends and give orkut, facebook and you will know why i am saying this. Facebook is 100 times more innovative than Orkut. But i like our good old orkut. Some kind of nostalgic feeling attached to it. :)
